The Chapter has ten luncheon meetings each year at the Cannon Gate Catering & Conference Center at the Picatinny Arsenal, beginning at 1130, unless otherwise announced, on the third Friday of the month except in December, when it will be held on the second Friday. Chapter membership includes sponsorship of a scholarship program, open to young men and women who are New Jersey residents and are continuing their college education through ROTC toward a military career. Three scholarships are awarded annually. In addition MOAA awards are presented to outstanding cadets in local JROTC units. These are high school students exhibiting academic achievement, exceptional citizenship, and assumption of responsibility for their actions. Currently 18 such JROTC awards are being made annually.
2019 Luncheon Schedule
- May 17, Friday
- June 21, Friday
- OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM
After hearing it hammed up so much in recent years, particularly on such occasions as the Super Bowl, it’s always refreshing the hear the Star Spangled Banner sung as it should be sung. To hear the late, great Metropolitan Opera baritone Robert Merrill sing our National Anthem, turn up your speakers and click here. He’s accompanied on this YouTube clip by the U.S. Air Force Band and the Singing Sergeants at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. Amy R. Mills conducts.
